Within what was the vast Mayan territory there are hundreds of vestiges that remain outside the knowledge of the traveler, places that do not sell the agencies nor leave in the conventional maps. El Naranjal is one of them, to surprise you on your way.
- The Naranjal is located in a diversion of Ignacio Zaragoza (km.80), between Valladolid and Cancun by the free (road of no payment). About 10 kilometers away is the town of San Francisco, and three kilometers ahead, El Naranjal (population of 100 inhabitants).
- It is run by the local community, who offer guides on the premises.
- Cost entrance: there is no official payment, but the gratuity to the guides that accompany you is obligatory. You can give about 30 MXN per person.
- There are no services at the entrance. Yes there are rustic services in the cenote. It is planned to build a restaurant for visitors.
- How to get there by public transport? From Cancun, Puerto Morelos or Valladolid there is public transport to Ignacio Zaragoza. From here there are several types of transport to El Naranjal: taxi, tricitaxi, colectivo …
- It is recommended to wear light and light clothing, hat, insect repellent, sunscreen, better closed shoes and some water.
