Puerto Juarez is the fishing district of the city of Cancun. Here is the only coastal strip from which to enjoy outside the Cancun Hotel Zone. Puerto Juarez is a neighborhood with pure sea salt flavor.

Like most neighborhoods of fishermen that I know, Puerto Juárez is a peculiar place. My grandparents lived in the fishing district of Barcelona, the Barceloneta (the one before the one created by urban speculation). Many times I seem to be there, seeing one of those characters that are part of my human landscapes of childhood, souvenirs of the soul. Now I live in my little Barceloneta in Cancun, a real fan of this neighborhood.

Puerto Juárez is known by the residents of Cancun for its fish and seafood cooperatives where to buy is cheaper, and for restaurants that dot its coast. For tourists it is known because from here it crosses by ferry to Isla Mujeres.
