The capital of the state of Campeche looks and is beautiful among many attractions that has the Yucatan Peninsula. It is a unique place and the traveler enjoys to stroll and discover the beautiful San Francisco de Campeche on its way.

San Francisco de Campeche was named Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1999 by UNESCO. Within the whole of the Yucatan Peninsula, it is surely the most beautiful city at the urban level. Surrounded by the old wall and opened in these times to the relaxed malecon, it enjoys a wonderful and cozy historical center paved, colonial houses painted with colorful colors and tranquil atmosphere. A real pleasure to walk Campeche.

The old wall is the footprint in form of rocky protection to the attacks of pirates, the majority English. One of the treasures that came to look for was the dye stick, there is always some gold to plunder. The stick or stick of Campeche is a tree whose wood the Maya extracted black and blue natural dye (ek ‘in Yucatecan Maya). This color of dye was very difficult to achieve, they had to process many materials to achieve it, so it was of great value in Europe. The stick of dye in Campeche was the gold that relaunched the economy of the area (the one of a few, of course, the others worked for them). Just as henequen was the green gold and motor of the economy in Yucatan.
