Celestun is bathed by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, a quiet town that lives off the fishing and salinas. For some years, some have received tourism that comes to the Biosphere Reserve of Celestún and its beaches, a beautiful corner of Yucatan.
- Celestún is located on the Gulf of Mexico 90 kilometers from Merida. Hour and a half by car on Carretra 281.
- How to get there by public transport? From Merida, buses leave from calle 71 between 64 and 66 (2 hours aprox.). From Merida there are organized day trips to the Ría Celestún Biosphere Reserve.
- The excursions for the Celestún Biosphere Reserve are during the sunny hours.
- Boat cost: 1300 mxn per boat, with capacity up to 8 people. They make excursions of 1 hour or 1 hour and a half. You can share it with other travelers arriving at the pier.
- Tips: eat in one of the restaurants on the beach, the desserts are ordered by the street vendors. The best hours for the observation of animals are at dawn and dusk.
